Here we have a lovely oak framed BBQ canopy we were asked to supply with a rustic feel.
The client wanted a basic roof for his seating and BBQ area situated in his stunning garden. The frame needed to look rustic but traditional, and also very chunky.
We wanted to use air dried oak beams to get the rustic appearance but also to keep the oak as stable as possible. Having movement of green oak would not be the best idea as the roof is only held up by its weight on the brick pillars.
The main ring beam is a whopping 300mm x 200mm with 100mm x 100mm joists pocketed in. The effect of the smaller beams set to the top of the ring beams would look great when cladding is installed over the top.
